Silver Twilight Studios

alexandria

Silver Twilight Studios is a one-person, two-cool-cat artist studio in eastern Washington. My name is Alexandria, but my friends call me Alex, and the younger generation mostly calls me Miss Alex.

Things that inspire me artistically are color, pattern, shape, texture, sound and emotion. All powered by luscious coffee.

Metalsmithing

Currently I am focusing on metalwork because I like making small wearable metal objects that make a personal connection possible, maybe tell a story, jazz up the uniform, be slightly audacious.

Sounds of metal tinking or clanking is true metal music.

Painting

I also love to draw and paint and workout with clay and take dazzling photographs, write poetry, so I’m also hanging out with large and small images on wood, or canvas, or paper, hammering and riveting metal on corners and other interesting places.

Photography

My family used to complain when I sent them pictures of a street, or a grate, or a skyline, or the cat-lings, but never people. Thank goodness I’m not a psychologist. But scapes just rev my antenna. Some of my travels are to places just so I can experience photographing spaces.

Poetry/pottery

Sometimes I can go a decade without writing poetry, and then, blam (highly descriptive word), feelings and thoughts just pour out.

And getting my hands in-the-muck is brilliantly satisfying and renewing, so when possible I sign up for the 2-hour studio Sip N’ Spin night at a local art co-op.

two PHOTOGENIC places: mexico & Iceland

It seems like it is impossible to take a bad photo in Mexico. Colors and light are quite vivid and lush, and there are myriad vignettes waiting to be discovered and captured “on film”. Plus life is crazy laid back.

Iceland is one of the few places I visit more than once. The space is simply raw. Glaciers and thermal waters, volcanic landscapes, geysers, Icelandic ponies, rainbows, and Northern Lights. Yum.

Meet the Team

Alex started taking drawing classes while living in Paris, France, one of the most inspirational places on the planet. While living in artist live/work space in Seattle, she began her dive into metalsmithing, studying at the Pratt Fine Arts Center. Earlier she attended the Portland School of Arts and Crafts focusing on hand built clay forms.
